CC-009 | CyberSecurity 2: Network Operating Systems

In this course, students will learn the aspects of operating systems (chiefly Linux and Windows Server 2016/2019). Students will then build on their virtualization skills from Network Security Fundamentals (CC-008 CyberSecurity 1) and better understand the virtualization concepts of enterprise environments, cloud concepts and cloud management.
Topics will include cloud implementation (for on-site, private clouds) to cloud and workload selection; configuration, migration, and security; basic concepts of application security and access control (identity, authentication, authorization, auditing, accounting). Throughout the class, security concepts learned in Level 1 are employed in the design and implementation tasks and are the basis for more advanced security processes needed in enterprise network, cloud networks and in cyber security projects. Practice management and continual service improvement are taught throughout the lessons.

This class is 140 classroom hours, tuition is $3,500. Exam fees for this class are $922 (exams are optional). Books are estimated at $120.

Towards the end of this level, students will be prepared to sit for these CompTIA tests: Linux+ (1 test), Cloud+ (1 test) and Microsoft’s MTA Windows Server Admin (1 test) as well as the CompTIA Server+ test and ITIL v4 – Foundation tests as options.

Hardware requirements: computer with a minimum of 4 cores, 16GB of RAM, storage of 1TB (could be installed in the system or used through a USB attachment).

Software Requirement: VMware Workstation Player v16 (free) or VMware Workstation Pro v16 highly recommended (student license $119).
