For approved businesses, we provide grant-funded training through the NJ Department of Labor (DOL). Training is available in a number of areas ranging from PC skills to soft skills. To receive DOL grant-funded training, your company must be NJ-based and free of any state tax liabilities. The qualification process is simple.

Business Math Classes

The NJBIA grant funds classes in basic business math such as "Accounting for New Supervisors" and "Budgets and Managing Money". If you are currently working for a NJ company you can qualify to participate in these training classes. Click "more information" below to see the class list and to register.

Customer Service

This 8-hour class will guide you to improve the customer experience by clearly defining customer service; explaining the difference between external and internal customers; recognizing that service delivery is an individual response value; understanding how your own behavior impacts the behavior of others; developing more confidence and skill as a problem-solver; understanding the importance of ‘tone’, and communicating more assertively and effectively.


Excel I

This class will introduce students to the basics including creating spreadsheets, formulas, functions, text, formatting & graphics. Students will be able to perform basic (introductory) level Excel skills such as modifying an existing worksheet, building worksheets, copying & moving cells, etc.

Excel II

This class will reinforce the elements introduced in Excel Level I and expand upon that base to include more complex but necessary activities. Upon completion, students will be able to find a specific entry in a worksheet, paste a dialog box, format cells in a dialog box, use absolute cell references, use financial functions (i.e. PMT function), use logical functions (i.e. IF function, nesting IF functions), use date/time functions (i.e. DATE/NOW function), create/modify charts, sort/filter records, link worksheets.

Outlook

An introductory course to the proper use of e-mail as a job related tool including sending clear messages, receiving, replying and deleting messages, disposing of junk mail and sending and opening file attachments. Overview of the basics of email etiquette.

Windows 10

Microsoft Windows 10 is the latest iteration of the popular Windows operating system. Student will learn the Windows 10 interface, Windows Store apps, work with the Windows 10 desktop, Microsoft Edge, how to customize the Windows 10 environment, how to use the Windows 10 security features, and more. Also covered in this class is the Microsoft Office 2016 suite. The suite offers considerable collaborative and teamwork features that turn Office from a tool for a single person into one that helps people work together.

Word II

This class will introduce participants to additional operations of Microsoft Word 2016. Upon completion, students will be able to: enter hidden text, adjust character spacing, reveal/clear formatting, insert tables/charts/diagrams, format tables, insert row/columns, convert text to table, create columns, newsletters, add border/shade/header/footer/page numbers/pictures/hyperlink, split window/open a new document.
