AutoCAD® is computer-aided design (CAD) software. This industry-specific software is used by architects, engineers, and construction professionals. They rely on AutoCAD® to create precise 2D and 3D drawings for architectural, mechanical, and engineering design projects. The AutoCAD® Intensive course includes three modules and totals forty hours of training.
Module One: The first module, a total of twelve hours, starts at the very beginning. No experience with AutoCAD®. is necessary. Students will learn the fundamentals of working with the software program in our Drafting Lab and get hands-on experience creating various shapes. After this module is completed, students can:
- Set drawing limits and scales
- Learn to use edit commands
- Work with layers, create text and other basic concepts
- Turn grids on and off, set grid dimensions
- Snap to endpoints, midpoints, and more
Module Two: The next module continues the working knowledge of essential AutoCAD® drafting tools for an additional twelve hours. Students will build on the basic digital drafting through hands-on exercises and use more advanced commands and tools. After this portion of the course, students can use functions such as:
- Annotating
- Working with blocks and symbols
- Learn more in-depth details of layer functions
- Explore layout styles, printing, plotting and publishing
Module Three: The last module, at sixteen hours, provides an overview of AutoCAD® 3D Fundamentals and Sketchup. This section of the course focuses on creating images with modeling and realistic three-dimensional renderings using software tools including:
- UCS (User Coordinate System), Control perspective views
- Learn rendering with commands in AutoCAD
- Create images with modeling tools in Sketchup
Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included, course texts are located in the college library for student use.
