Algebra Readiness Enrichment

This summer: prepare for your success in Pre-Algebra and Algebra, and beyond! Learn about the tools and practice the skills for success. We will be working with number theory, variables, number sense, basic arithmetic, and vocabulary.  (For 6th-8th grade students)

Gear and Pulley Explorations & Junior Physicians

This in-person course will be held in Ender Hall at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus NJ 07652

Gear up for some amazing science fun! What happens when gears are connected?  Build, tinker, and create amazing gadgets. Conquer different levels of challenges and have fun learning! We’ll design and build a wide range of gadgets, inventive machines, crazy contraptions, and more.  Projects include: The Wooden Coaster Challenge, Magnificent Marble Machine, and a host of other fun contests designed to bring out the engineer in you! All projects made in class are yours to keep!  Next, What’s it like to journey through the human body? We will explore each of the biological systems through hands-on experimentation. Activities include simulated blood typing, making Mr. Skeleton, making a map of the human tongue, a model heart, brain, and much more! (For 3rd-5th grade students)

Generation POUND! A Drum & Fitness Class

This in-person course will be held in Ender Hall at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus NJ 07652

Get ready to , MOVE, ROCK, PLAY, and MAKE NOISE! What does a Generation POUND class look & feel like?  This class combines movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills.  By combining exercise and interactive activities to help build confidence, you will learn new ways to explore movement, embrace your creativity and ROCK OUT! (https://youtu.be/rZ_sjkyAARY)  This class will be broken up into half of fun and fitness with drumming and the other half to learn basic drumming rhythms.  Please have a yoga mat, sneakers, comfortable clothing, a snack and plenty of water!  (For 3rd-5th grade students)

Super Science Make & Take - Toys that Teach

Would you like to design and build a homemade musical instrument?  How about making your own working telescope as you learn about the optics of light?  Or, perhaps, constructing an adjustable, ball-launching catapult that changes the trajectory of a flinging projectile?!  In this workshop, you’ll construct a wide variety of inventive projects and toys that are designed to teach about science concepts.  From assembling an electro-magnet and a working electric motor to making ultra-violet bead bracelets, fun is what this workshop is all about! (For 3rd-5th grade students)

Super Science STEAM Challenges

This in-person course will be held in Ender Hall at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus NJ 07652

In this age-appropriate engineering workshop, you will have fun integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics by building and designing a wide range of gadgets, inventive machines, towers, crazy contraptions, and more. Be part of: The Great Tower Challenge, The Wooden Coaster Challenge, The Structural Engineering Challenge, The Marble Challenge, The Bucket Challenge, and a host of other fun contests designed to bring out the engineer in you!  Students will work with ZomeTool, Keva, BA-2.0, Lego, K’NEX, Gravitrax, and a variety of projects that use every-day materials. (For 1st-3rd grade students)

Tarts & Pies

This in-person course will be held at: Patisserie Florentine, 242 Closter Dock Rd, Closter, NJ 07624

Summer Bulldogs will learn the art of making various types of tarts and pies in this culinary workshop.  Students will learn the art and science behind combining specific recipe ingredients to make delicious desserts from scratch! They will practice some math and engineering, as they mix and  measure, assemble and create their pastries. (Kitchen health and safety practices will be introduced during the first class and practiced throughout.) (For 6th-8th grade students)
