After Care

After Care runs from 4PM – 5:30PM

At the end of your child’s daily program, your child may remain on the BCC campus to participate in supervised activities until 5:30 p.m. Your child may enroll in any or all of the weeks during which your child is attending a program. Participants are not permitted to stay on campus following the end of their regularly scheduled day without authorized supervision. A LATE FEE of $50/hour will be charged if the child is not picked up by 5:30 pm.

Babysitting Training Grades 6 - 8

Babysitting Training runs from 9AM – 4:30PM

Babysitter's Training is designed for young people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care to infants and children in a residential setting. Students learn about basic child-care and basic first aid. Participants receive a certificate of completion. The class runs for one day only on Friday 7/28 or Friday 8/11 from 9AM – 4:30PM.

Code Breakers Grades 3 - 6

Code Breakers Grades 3 – 6 runs from 9AM – 12PM

Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way to becoming the next tech star! Whether you want to be a Silicon Valley CEO or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in her bedroom, this course has the essentials you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.

Cup Cake Wars Grades 5 - 8

Cup Cake Wars Grades 5 – 8 runs from 1PM – 4PM

Students will design and prepare cupcakes. Campers will sample their peers’ cupcakes and vote on their favorite cupcake. Participants will learn the correct use of pastry bags, basic piping skills, culinary measuring skills, and introductory decorating skills. Demonstration and practice of various cooking methods while adhering to safe sanitary food handling procedures.

Foods Around the World Grades 1-5

Foods Around the World Grades 1 – 5 runs from 1PM – 4PM

Chef It Up 2 Go takes the kids on a culinary adventure and picks one country of the day then prepares fun foods and drinks from that region! Some of the countries we visit are: Italy with Pasta making, Japan with Sushi Making; Mexico with Salsa or Quesadillas or the good ole’ USA with Apple Pies! If there is no access to an oven… no problem as recipes can be made as a “no bake” option where the foods get prepared and sent home with baking instructions to simply have a parent cook up! No matter what country we visit they will LOVE this Chef It Up class! Peanut & Tree Nut Free.

Hand Made at Home: Scratch Kitchen Grades 5 - 8

Hand Made at Home: Scratch Kitchen Grades 5 – 8 runs from 9AM – 12PM

Come and learn the art and science behind combining specific recipe ingredients to make delicious dishes from scratch!  Know how to make fresh pasta by hand? How about your favorite dish?  In this course we will learn tips, tricks, and fundamentals to turn you into a made-from-scratch aficionado. We’ll share, produce and execute delicious recipes, plus practice skills to make several types of handmade starch items.  

How to Read Music Grades 4 - 6

How to Read Music Grades 4 – 6 runs from 9AM – 12PM

This course will prepare you with a basic understanding of how to read music. You will learn about the grand staff, rhythm, pitch, time signatures, key signatures, and more!

Intermediate Guitar Grades 7 - 10

Intermediate Guitar Grades 7 – 10 runs from 9AM – 12PM (This is a two-week course) 

This intermediate course builds on the basics that a guitar player with some experience needs to hone (See Beginner's Guitar and Beginner's Guitar II). Students will enhance their playing skills such as picking and strumming, and practice scales and chords in the context of the songs they enjoy. Students must have their own guitars. 

LEGO Education WeDo Grades 1 - 4

LEGO Education WeDo Grades 1 – 4 runs from 9AM – 4PM

Come explore the world of Robotics using Lego Education WeDo equipment. Make motorized devices that relate to moving mechanisms using Legos and computer software! No prior experience required.

Minecraft Modders Grades 3 - 6

Minecraft Modders Grades 3 – 6 runs from 1PM – 4PM

Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-of-a-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. Students will create a wide variety of new elements, gameplay mechanics, and world generating mods to change the way you play Minecraft. Projects will be available on a password protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.

Mini Drones and Flying Physics Grades 3 - 8

Mini Drones and Flying Physics Grades 3 – 8 runs from 1PM – 4PM

Take to the skies with mini drones, quadcopters, and more! This camp is the perfect introduction to the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this camp, safety is a priority as students learn to fly in first-person view (FPV), exploring the real-world applications of drones. Putting critical thinking to the test, campers will brainstorm ways drones could be used for good, sketching out their ideas for new and innovative drones and drone uses. Campers will also experiment with paper planes, flying gadgets, rockets, gyroscopes, physics toys, balloon cars, and much more. All students will take home their own mini-drone.

Mock Trial Grades 6 - 8

Mock Trial Grades 6 – 8 runs from 9AM – 4PM in Week 2 and again in Week 6

Guilty or innocent? In this class, students will learn the elements of public speaking, principles of the court system, and how to debate the pro and con side of an issue. Students will serve as either a member of the prosecution, the defense, a witness, or a judge. At the end of the class a jury of your peers will deliberate and decide the fate of the accused. 

NASA: Astro Inventors Grades 1 - 6

NASA: Astro Inventors Grades 1 – 6 runs from 9AM – 12PM

Our campers should be prepared for an action-packed week as they think and act like NASA innovators. Campers will be challenged to use creative and collaborative skills to design a mission patch, train like an astronaut, and solve real-world engineering problems. Armed with the spark of an idea, a design notebook, and physical and digital tools, teams will modify NASA technology into spinoff designs. We help our campers ignite their creative thinking and shoot for the stars.

POUND Grades 3 - 7

POUND Grades 3 – 7 runs from 9AM – 12PM

Get ready to MOVE, ROCK, PLAY, and MAKE NOISE! What does a Generation POUND class look & feel like?  This class combines movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills.  By combining exercise and interactive activities to help build confidence, you will learn new ways to explore movement, embrace your creativity and ROCK OUT! This class will be broken up into half of fun and fitness with drumming and the other half to learn basic drumming rhythms.  Please have a yoga mat, sneakers, comfortable clothing, a snack and plenty of water!

Do you want to get your summer reading and reading work finished quickly? Then this is the class for you! Bring your school's approved novel and any assigned work that goes along with it. We will create a reading plan for the week to ensure that you will finish reading your summer reading book quickly and effectively! You will be taught different reading strategies throughout the week to help you become a better reader and to avoid the "summer slide."

Super Science STEAM Challenges Grades 2 - 6

Super Science STEAM Challenges Grades 2 – 6 runs:

WEEK 3 from 9AM – 12PM and WEEK 6 from 9AM – 12PM

In this engineering camp, you will have fun integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics by building and designing a wide range of gadgets, inventive machines, towers, crazy contraptions, and more. Projects include: The Great Tower Challenge, Wooden Coaster Challenge, Structural Engineering Challenge, Egg Drop, Magnificent Marble Machine, and a host of other fun contests designed to bring out the engineer in you!
