Build the Skills to Manage Construction Projects and Advance Your Career.
Bergen Community College offers noncredit Construction Management and OSHA training for individuals entering the construction industry, advancing into supervisory and project coordination roles, or strengthening their technical and management skills. Courses combine practical instruction in construction safety, print reading, construction contracts, jobsite operations, and cost estimating.
Students may enroll in individual courses or complete Bergen’s five-course Certificate in Construction Management. Additional specialization opportunities in Building Information Modeling (BIM), construction data analytics and project performance, and sustainable construction help professionals develop skills in emerging industry practices.
Before enrolling: The Certificate in Construction Management is a Bergen Community College noncredit credential, not a state construction license or third-party professional certification. Students who successfully complete the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training requirements may receive a course-completion card, which OSHA does not classify as a certification or license. Review the OSHA Outreach Training Program and the individual Bergen course listings before registering.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How many courses are required for the Construction Management Certificate?
The certificate consists of five core courses totaling 186 instructional hours: CD-133, CD-405, CD-459, CD-466, and CD-582.
Can I take an individual course without completing the full certificate?
Yes. Bergen allows students to register for individual courses, subject to any course-specific entry requirements or recommended preparation.
Are there prerequisites or a required course sequence?
CD-405 must be completed before or taken alongside CD-582. Advanced BIM and analytics classes may recommend earlier coursework or comparable professional experience. The individual course listings explain those recommendations.
Do I need prior construction experience?
No prior construction experience is required for the five-course core certificate. Some advanced courses are designed for learners with relevant experience and recommend earlier technical training.
Do I need to register for all five courses at once?
No. Students may register for one course at a time. The time needed to finish the certificate depends on course schedules and the number of classes taken per term.
Can I use an OSHA 30 card I already have?
You may request a waiver for CD-133 if you have a valid, verifiable OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training card. Bergen determines whether a waiver is approved and how it applies to the College certificate.
Does OSHA 30 training give me an OSHA certification?
No. Students who successfully complete the Outreach Training Program receive a course-completion card, not an OSHA certification or license.
Are the three specializations part of the five required certificate courses?
No. BIM and Digital Construction Management, Construction Data Analytics and Project Performance, and Sustainable Construction Management are optional add-on areas. Bergen describes specialization certificate opportunities for eligible students completing the additional coursework.
Are industry certification exams included?
Not unless a course explicitly states otherwise. For example, CD-224 supports LEED Green Associate exam preparation, but the external examination and associated fees are separate.
Are classes offered online or in person?
Bergen lists in-person, live online, and hybrid formats for different courses. The available schedule and delivery method depend on the specific section and term.
Is financial assistance available?
These noncredit courses generally do not qualify for federal Title IV financial aid. Students may inquire about other workforce training assistance through the Bergen County Job Center, subject to eligibility and funding approval.
