CE-403 | Introduction to Abnormal Psychology (Taught in Korean)

This course is an examination of psychological adjustment and of the prevention and treatment of psychological disorders. The course focuses on the framework established by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Topics of discussion include community mental health problems, stress and coping mechanisms, anxiety disorders, sexual variations and dysfunction, and the more severe disorders such as schizophrenia. Total Program Hours: 16 hours

CE-404 | Eat Well to Live Well – Institute for Multicultural Learning (Taught in Korean)

This 5-session course taught in Korean will promote awareness of chronic diseases and expand community health prevention. In addition, this course will introduce the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans – published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and discuss the several nutrients that increase the risk of incidence. Total Program Hours: 12.5 hours

CE-405 | Modern Asian History – Institute for Multicultural Learning (Taught in Korean)

This course is a study of modern China, India, and Japan. The course focuses on these societies’ traditional cultures and world views and on the alterations and disruptions in these societies as a result of the introduction of Western values and ideas in the 19th and 20th centuries. Total Program Hours: 36.75

CE-406 | Modern Asian History II (Taught in Korean)

This course is a study of Northeast, Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.  This course is a study of modern China, India, and Japan. The course focuses on these societies’ traditional cultures and world views and on the alterations and disruptions in these societies as a result of the introduction of Western values and ideas in the 19th and 20th centuries.  Total Program Hours: 40 hours.

CE-408 | Child Psychology (Taught in Korean)

This course is an introduction to the study of child development and will be covering the physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development of the child from conception through the onset of adolescence, and the major factors influencing the child’s total behavior. This course is designed to help the student understand basic concepts and theories of child development, make students familiar with normal processes of child development, and discuss cultural perceptions of child development.

CE-458 | Psychology Of Human Relations

This course is designed to encourage each student’s active participation in a series of activities and lectures that promote increased self-awareness and self-concept. Source materials in the psychology of human relations, communications, group behavior, adjustment, and leadership are studied and discussed.

This course is a survey of the United States’ history from the Reconstruction period to the present. Emphasis is placed on the American political system and the social, economic, and diplomatic development of the United States.

CE-460 | Racism in America I: The Origins -Multicultural (Taught in Korean)

This course discusses the rise of racial consciousness and how it affected America’s social fabric and political and economic institutions.

CE-461 | Racism in America II: Asian-American Experience -Multicultural (Taught in Korean)

This course discusses the arrival of Asian immigrants in the mid-19th century and how their presence engendered the notion of “Yellow Peril” which is still present in modern America.

CE-462 | Racism in America III: Struggle for Equality -Multicultural (Taught in Korean)

This course discusses America’s long history of struggle for equality. Major themes are the Anti-slavery movement, Black Intellectualism, the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and, 60s, Native Americans, Latino-Hispanic Americans, and Asian American struggles.

SD-057 | Sign Language 1 – Beginner

Learn the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL). Students are introduced to spelling, grammar, exchanging personal information, and talking about family, friends and activities. This course is designed for those who have no knowledge of American Sign Language.
