CC-008 | Cyber Security 1: Network Security Fundamentals

This entry-level course is designed for those entering the field of cybersecurity or anyone looking for a solid foundation in the basics of networking and operating systems. This class will combine and sequence all the necessary skills to learn, not in a checklist-based approach, but rather in a scaffolded process that builds upon each learning concept.

This class is hands-on. The goal is not just to help you pass the certification tests with a checklist approach, but to show you how to build complete network environments on your own. You will learn to understand customer requirements and translate them into appropriately designed computer and network environments with the features specified by the client and with the ability to expand and extend when needed.

Students will learn through repetition not only the foundational concepts (conceptual acquisition) but the operational skills to do the job once employed. This skilled approach will allow students to demonstrate their abilities in an interview, even those that involve a whiteboard and colorful markers, whenever the interviewer asks, “Draw me a solution for this problem….”.

Hardware requirements: Computer with a minimum of 4 cores, 16GB of RAM, storage of 1TB (could be installed in the system or used through a USB attachment).

Software Requirements: VMware Workstation Player v16 (free) or VMware Workstation Pro v16 highly recommended (student license $119). Towards the end of this level, students are able to take these CompTIA tests: A+ (2 tests), Network+ (1 test) and Security+ (1 test) as well as the Cisco CCNA (1 test).

CC-009 | CyberSecurity 2: Network Operating Systems

In this course, students will learn the aspects of operating systems (chiefly Linux and Windows Server 2016/2019). Students will then build on their virtualization skills from Network Security Fundamentals (CC-008 CyberSecurity 1) and better understand the virtualization concepts of enterprise environments, cloud concepts and cloud management.
Topics will include cloud implementation (for on-site, private clouds) to cloud and workload selection; configuration, migration, and security; basic concepts of application security and access control (identity, authentication, authorization, auditing, accounting). Throughout the class, security concepts learned in Level 1 are employed in the design and implementation tasks and are the basis for more advanced security processes needed in enterprise network, cloud networks and in cyber security projects. Practice management and continual service improvement are taught throughout the lessons.

This class is 140 classroom hours, tuition is $3,500. Exam fees for this class are $922 (exams are optional). Books are estimated at $120.

Towards the end of this level, students will be prepared to sit for these CompTIA tests: Linux+ (1 test), Cloud+ (1 test) and Microsoft’s MTA Windows Server Admin (1 test) as well as the CompTIA Server+ test and ITIL v4 – Foundation tests as options.

Hardware requirements: computer with a minimum of 4 cores, 16GB of RAM, storage of 1TB (could be installed in the system or used through a USB attachment).

Prerequisites: CC-008 | Cyber Security 1: Network Security Fundamentals

CC-010 | CyberSecurity 3: PenTesting and Security Analysis

This level builds on all the skills acquired in Levels 1 and 2 as the basis for attacks against networks, operating systems, applications, and data repositories. The ethical, diligent, and procedural aspect of penetration testing are pitted against the methodical, analytical, observant aspect of Cyber Security Analysis. The basic tenets of the Advanced Security Professional (CASP) concepts are expected to have been learned throughout the first two levels and are further advanced in this level.

Report writing for both blue team (defenders) and red team (pen testers) is highlighted and stressed for professional development (this is also a prized skill in job interviews), as well as presentation skills for consulting or reporting assignments.

This class is 105 hours of classroom instruction and the tuition is $2,625. Exam fees for this class are $875. Books are estimated at $130.

Towards the end of this level, students will be able to sit for the following CompTIA tests: PenTest+ (1 test), CySA+ (Cyber Security Analyst, 1 test), and CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Professional, 1 test), as well as the Python Institute’s PCEP (Python Certified Entry-level Programmer, 1 test).

Hardware requirements: A minimum of 4 cores, 16GB of RAM , storage of 1TB (could be installed in the system or used through a USB attachment.
