Building Inspector ICS (Industrial and Commercial Structures) (CD-225)

The 75-hour Building Inspector I.C.S.(Industrial and Commercial Structures) course provides students the fundamental knowledge and educational experience required by the state for licensure under this title. This course delivers educational information on building code requirements for medium-sized industrial and commercial structures. It will cover building construction, foundation design, wood and steel frame construction, fire-resistance rating, requirements for building subcodes, testing materials, and uniform construction code. Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included, course texts are located in the college library for student use.

Prerequisites: Building Inspector RCS – Residential Commercial Structures (CD-075)

Total Program Hours: 75 hours

Required Textbook: 2021 International Building Code, New Jersey Edition

Suggested textbook: 2021 International Mechanical Code, NJ Uniform Construction Code (Available at the DCA Website) 

This course includes an in-person field trip mandated by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The specific site will be determined by the instructor.
