This course provides a step-by-step explanation of how contracts sustain positive customer and supplier relations, provide for resolution of disputes, and minimize the risk of litigation. Standard industry documents are reviewed and discussed in detail. This course includes a research presentation or a student participant mock trial that involves the topics vital to understanding construction contracts and contract law. Topics include:
- Basic contract theory
- Contract preparation
- The litigation process
- Alternate dispute resolution (mediation and arbitration)
- Case studies in New Jersey Construction Law
- Insurance coverage and important terms
- Ethics best practices
Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included, course texts are located in the college library for student use.
Prerequisites: No Prior Experience Needed
