CD-473 | Negotiating Construction Contracts

Negotiating is an essential skill in today’s dynamic construction projects. This program explores analytical tools and interpersonal techniques for dealing effectively with different bargaining styles and tactics. If you negotiate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, or colleagues, your ability to negotiate effectively is vital to the success of your project. 

Students reflect on their tendencies and refine their approach with in-class mock negotiating activities to manage the process more effectively with bargaining tactics, style, and emotion. Topics include:

  • Negotiating in real-time prepares you to close deals, negotiate prices, and set beneficial contract agreements.
  • Learn to resolve differences before they escalate into costly conflicts. 
  • Understand negotiation dynamics and how to prepare for uncertainty
  • Learn to craft agile strategy, be quick and find the zone of possible agreement
  • Secure maximum value for your project, organization, and yourself

Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included, course texts are located in the college library for student use.

Prerequisites: No Prior Experience Needed
