HH-006 | EKG Technician and Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Skills

This 70-hour course is available in person during evening sessions. The evening class meets two nights per week for two months from 5pm to 10pm.

 

The first part of the course prepares students to enhance job skills and performance in hospitals, cardiology offices, cardiac rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and continued care facilities. Proper 12 lead ECG electrode placements, performance, troubleshooting technical problems, and application of a 24-hour Holter Monitor will be practiced. Recognition of normal and abnormal tracings, medical terminology, and medical abbreviations applicable to ECGs will be discussed. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified EKG/MonitorTechnician (CET) examination.

The second part of the course is 30-hours of comprehensive  instructions to assist healthcare workers in acquiring essential skills for the identification of primary cardiac arrhythmias. This program promotes a step-by-step method of rhythm strip analysis and incorporates “hands-on” skills practice sessions. The instructor will assess competency by written examination and with the use of simulation. Upon successful completion of this course students will be eligible to take the Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician certification administered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Books and certification exam fees are not included in the tuition.
