This 80-hour course introduces the methods and techniques of phlebotomy by providing skills necessary to perform venipuncture, and capillary (finger) sticks for drawing and processing blood samples within a health care facility or laboratory setting. The course includes a review of anatomy and physiology of the hematopoietic system and common blood diseases, associated medical terminology; bloodborne pathogen education; laboratory clinical practice skills.
Evening courses will be on two days, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 pm to 10 pm. Wednesday online using Moodle and WebEx and Thursday Onsite in the Health Professions building.
Day courses will be four days a week, Monday -Thursday, from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be onsite, Health Professions Building and Thursday will be online using Moodle.
