This 80-hour course is available in daytime and evening sessions.

The daytime course runs from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday for four weeks.

The evening course meets on Tuesday and Thursday nights for two months from 5 pm to 10 pm.

Please note: must provide proof of Hep B vaccine on the first day of class.

This course introduces the methods and techniques of phlebotomy and provides the skills necessary to perform venipuncture and capillary (finger) sticks for drawing and processing blood samples in a health care facility or laboratory setting.

The course includes:

• A review of the anatomy and physiology of the hematopoietic system
• Common blood diseases
• Associated medical terminology
• Bloodborne pathogen education
• Laboratory clinical practice skills

Program Details
This 80-hour program provides instruction to prepare students to secure an entry-level position as a Phlebotomy Technician within the healthcare industry.

During clinical laboratory sessions, students practice technical skills in collecting capillary and venipuncture blood specimens on manikins and human subjects in accordance with OSHA standards.

To complete this program and qualify for the national certification exam, students must successfully perform a minimum of 35 venipunctures and 10 capillary draws (fingersticks) on live individuals.
