Learn to digitally model and visualize interior spaces using SketchUp and rendering tools. Widely used in the architecture and interior design industries, SketchUp enables designers to quickly and effectively transform ideas into detailed three-dimensional models and compelling visual presentations.
This hands-on course introduces the fundamentals, history, and professional applications of SketchUp, with a focus on developing the technical skills needed to create realistic 3D models. Students will learn how to build surfaces, volumes, objects, and interior spaces; produce accurate, scaled architectural drawings; and create photorealistic renderings.
Students will also learn how to integrate 3D models, technical drawings, and renderings into professional design workflows to communicate concepts, present projects, and support real-world design practices. Topics include:
- 3D Modeling: Build and modify surfaces, volumes, objects, and interior/exterior spaces using SketchUp.
- Technical Drawing: Create accurate, scaled architectural drawings and design documentation.
- 3D Visualization: Develop realistic 3D models and photo-realistic renderings to communicate design concepts.
- Professional Application: Apply SketchUp models, drawings, and renderings to real-world architectural and interior design projects and professional workflows.
Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included.
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with AutoCAD is recommended but not required.
Total Program Hours: 30 Hours
Recommended Textbook or Course Materials:
- Computer & Internet: Access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection.
- SketchUp Pro: SketchUp Pro (desktop version) installed on a Windows or Mac computer.
- Mouse: A mouse is strongly recommended for students working on a laptop to support precise modeling and navigation.
- Rendering Tools: Students will use rendering tools introduced during the course. Trial versions may be available, depending on the selected software and the timing of the course’s rendering portion.
- Notebook or Sketchbook: Recommended for sketching concepts, taking notes, and developing design ideas.
