CD-290 | Building Inspector HHS (High Rise and Hazardous Structures)

The Building Inspector course is for High Rise and Hazardous Structures (HHS). This course covers topics such as structural systems; design and analysis; fire protection and safety systems; special use of occupancy; advanced mechanical systems; design principles for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; energy conservation and other related topics. It provides students with the fundamental knowledge and educational experience required by the state for licensure under this title. The course can only be taken after you complete Building Inspector Residential and Commercial Structures (RCS) and Industrial and Commercial Structures (ICS). Textbooks, materials, ID card and exam fees are not included, course texts are located in the college library for student use.

Prerequisites:  Building Inspector RCS – Residential Commercial Structures (CD-075), Building Inspector ICS – Industrial and Commercial Structures (CD-225)

Total Program Hours: 60 hours

Required Textbook:  Building HHS, 2021 International Building Code

Suggested Textbooks: 2021 International Fuel Gas Code, 2021 International Mechanical code, 2017 ICC A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities

This course includes an in-person field trip mandated by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The specific site will be determined by the instructor.
