Welcome to K12 at Bergen

K12 at Bergen (formerly Kids and Teens Programs) provides high-quality enrichment, academic advancement, and summer learning opportunities for students in grades one through twelve. Our programs are designed to inspire creativity, develop new skills, build confidence, and support students as they grow academically and socially.

Whether your child is exploring science for the first time, strengthening academic foundations, discovering new interests in art or music, or preparing for high school success, our programs offer enriching, age-appropriate learning experiences throughout the year.

Our goal is to create a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment that supports learning, curiosity, and positive growth.


What We Offer

K12 at Bergen includes three primary program areas:


After School Enrichment (Beyond the Bell)

Offered during the academic year, our After School Enrichment program provides hands-on, engaging classes in:

  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Digital media and technology
  • Music, dance, and performing arts
  • Visual arts and crafts
  • Leadership and business
  • Cultural enrichment
  • Creative expression and design

Classes take place at partner schools and community locations throughout Bergen County, with additional programming returning to Hackensack in Fall 2025.

Summer Learning Academy (Grades One through Twelve)

Our Summer Learning Academy offers six weekly sessions from late June through early August. Students may enroll for individual weeks or the entire summer.

Options include:

  • Full-day programs (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)
  • Half-day programs (morning or afternoon)
  • Before-care and after-care
  • Supervised lunch hour

Students explore Academics, STEM, Arts and Crafts, Leadership and Business, Music and Drama, Culinary Arts, Cultural Learning, and more.

Summer High School Program

Our Summer High School Program supports academic advancement and credit completion for grades nine through twelve. Students may enroll in:

  • New Work for Credit courses (for advancement)
  • Credit Recovery courses (for repeating subjects)

The program runs July 1 through August 1, 2026, with no classes on Fridays.
Classes are taught by qualified New Jersey educators and follow state academic guidelines.

All instructors and staff undergo thorough background checks and follow established safety procedures including health documentation, emergency protocols, and appropriate supervision requirements.

Accessible Learning for a Wide Range of Needs

We welcome students with IEPs or 504 Plans and ask families to share documents in advance so we can plan to support their child effectively.


Parent Portal

Parents can stay connected, informed, and in control through the K12 Parent Portal.

Within the portal, families may:

  • Review current enrollments
  • Access communications and announcements
  • Update personal and emergency contact information
  • Upload a student photo for additional safety
  • Prepare for summer and after-school programming

Registration Information

Registration timelines vary by program:

  • After School Enrichment: Registration opens seasonally based on each school or location
  • Summer Learning Academy: Registration opens February 1, 2026
  • Summer High School: Registration opens February 1, 2026

Registration closes on the Thursday before each course or weekly session begins.

Each child must have:

  • A completed Health and Safety Questionnaire
  • Any required approval forms for high school credit programs
  • Up-to-date contact information in the Parent Portal

Please note that registration is not complete until all required forms are submitted.
