Welcome to the Summer Learning Academy

The Summer Learning Academy at Bergen Community College is designed to inspire curiosity, strengthen academic and creative skills, and provide a fun, safe, and enriching summer experience for students entering grades one through twelve. With six weeks of flexible programming, families can build a customized summer schedule that supports learning, growth, and exploration.

Each week offers a variety of full-day and half-day class options, before-care and after-care, supervised lunch, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Whether your child wants to try something new, deepen existing skills, or stay academically engaged, the Summer Learning Academy has something for every learner.


Registration Opens February First, Two Thousand Twenty-Five

Registration for all Summer Learning Academy programs begins on February First, Two Thousand Twenty-Five. Early enrollment is strongly encouraged as many classes reach capacity.


Program Structure and Schedule

Program Dates

The Summer Learning Academy runs for six weekly sessions, Monday through Friday, beginning June 29 and running through early August.

Families may register for one week, multiple weeks, or the entire six-week series.

Daily Schedule Options

Full-Day Programs

  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Half-Day Programs

  • Morning Session: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Afternoon Session: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Wraparound Care Services

  • Before-Care: Available prior to the morning session
  • After-Care: Available following the afternoon session
  • Lunch Supervision: Provided daily for students staying through the lunch period
    • Families must provide a nut-free lunch that does not require refrigeration or heating.

Weekly Enrollment Structure

Families may choose:

  • A full-day class for the entire week
  • Two half-day classes (one morning and one afternoon)
  • A single half-day class
  • Optional wraparound care to accommodate family schedules

Program Concentrations

Students may explore courses from the following areas:

Academics

Reading, writing, mathematics, science, study skills, world cultures, language exploration.

STEM

Engineering, robotics, technology, coding, digital science labs, environmental science.

Arts and Crafts

Drawing, painting, digital art, sculpture, mixed media, maker crafts.

Music, Dance, and Drama

Vocal workshops, band fundamentals, acting, movement, creative performance.

Cooking and Culinary Arts

Basic kitchen skills, safe food practices, cultural cooking, fun recipes (nut-free environment).

Leadership and Business

Team building, entrepreneurship, public speaking, problem solving, project planning.

Cultural Learning

World traditions, history, global arts, character education, community awareness.

Wraparound Care

Before-care and after-care options to support working families.

Students can mix and match interests across concentrations each week.


How to Register

We have streamlined the enrollment process so families can register with confidence and clarity. Please follow the steps below:

Step One: Explore Course Options

Browse programs by concentration or review the full Virtual Catalog.

Step Two: Select a Program

Click on a program listing to learn more details and determine if the class fits your child’s interests and rising grade level.

Step Three: Register

Click Register Now to add a program to your cart.

Step Four: Log In or Create an Account

Each child must have an individual account within our registration system.

  • Returning Users: Log in using your existing credentials
  • New Users: Create an individual account for each child enrolling

Step Five: Complete the Required Health and Safety Questionnaire

After registering, families will receive a confirmation email.
Registration is not complete until the required Health and Safety Questionnaire is submitted.

  • One questionnaire is required per child
  • Must be submitted at least one week before the start of the program
  • Failure to submit by the deadline will result in the child being removed from the class without refund

Step Six: Registration Complete

When the Health and Safety Questionnaire has been received and processed, your child is officially registered for their selected classes.

Parents can manage their child’s enrollments and stay informed through the Student Portal.
