Programs That Hire Instructors
After School Enrichment (Beyond the Bell)
- Fall and Spring seasons
- Held at local schools and community sites
- Ideal for short-term courses (four to eight weeks)
Summer Learning Academy
- Six weekly sessions
- Half-day or full-day format
- A broad range of enrichment classes for grades one through twelve
Summer High School Program
- New Work for Credit and Credit Recovery
- Requires New Jersey certified teachers
- Runs Monday through Thursday from July One to July Thirty-One
How to Submit a Course Proposal
We offer separate proposal forms for each program area. Please review the details below and submit your proposal by the appropriate deadline.
Step One: Select the Proposal Form
- After School Enrichment Proposal Form (Spring 2025)
Submission Deadline: October Fifteenth - Summer Learning Academy Proposal Form (Summer 2025)
Submission Deadline: November Sixth - Summer High School Proposal Form (Summer 2025)
Submission Deadline: November Sixth
(Note: High school instructors must hold New Jersey teaching certification.)
Step Two: Complete the Proposal Form
Each proposal form requests:
- Your preferred course title
- Course description
- Learning objectives
- Grade level(s) targeted
- Preferred session length
- Required materials (if any)
- Your schedule availability
Step Three: Email Your Completed Proposal

Proposals are reviewed in the order they are received.
Please allow up to two weeks for a response.
Instructor Expectations
To ensure a consistent and high-quality student experience, instructors must:
Demonstrate Professionalism
Arrive on time, communicate clearly, and maintain positive and respectful interactions with students and staff.
Follow Classroom Safety Guidelines
Instructors must:
- Adhere to child safety protocols
- Participate in required training sessions
- Maintain appropriate supervision at all times
Implement Engaging Instruction
Successful instructors use:
- Hands-on projects
- Step-by-step demonstrations
- Group activities
- Age-appropriate lessons
- Strong classroom management
Communicate with Program Staff
Inform staff of:
- Classroom needs
- Supplies required
- Safety concerns
- Student attendance issues
- Any unexpected changes
Instructor Screening and Training
All K12 instructors undergo required screening procedures, including:
- Background checks
- Employment authorization verification
- Reference review
- Mandatory training on safety, classroom expectations, and emergency procedures
These steps ensure the safety and well-being of every student.
Common Questions About Teaching with K12
Do I need a teaching certificate?
- Required for Summer High School credit-bearing classes
- Not required for After School Enrichment or Summer Learning Academy
Do I need teaching experience?
Experience working with school-aged children is strongly preferred.
Subject matter expertise is required for all instructors.
Will I receive curriculum support?
Yes.
Staff will assist with lesson structure, pacing, classroom setup, and materials as needed.
How long are courses?
Courses vary by program:
- After School Enrichment: Four to eight weeks
- Summer Learning Academy: One-week sessions
- Summer High School: Four weeks (July One to July Thirty-One)
Can I propose multiple courses?
Absolutely.
Many instructors teach more than one class each year.
